JOHOR BARU: Retrenched workers should try their hands at agriculture as the sector had potential to reap lucrative rewards.

Agriculture and Agrobased Industries Committee chaiman Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said that agriculture offered multiple source of income through integrated farming, including options like cattle breeding and aquaculture. Activities like agroculture offered lucrative returns in a short time.

Abdul Aziz said that government agencies were willing to assist anyone who was interested in getting involved in integrated farming by providing assistance through cattle or machinery.

He added that the state government allocated RM5mil to support integrated farming efforts.

Abdul Aziz also urged farmers and plantation owners to use the Effective Microorganism (EM) Technology as an integral component in developing agriculture.

He pointed out that the use of EM would help reduce costs and increase productivity in the sector.
